Hello and Welcome to One Block Quilting.

Let me introduce myself. My Name is Anna Carter. I have been quilting for many years, and come from a long line of quilters. I have a few thought on quilting that I would like to share with you.

Life Happens One Block At A Time

First, I want to share how I named One Block Quilting. It is how I view most things in my life. You can do anything, if you break it down to One Block at a time.

Many times you see a quilt and think, “Wow, I love that but I could never do it.” Sure, you can! Just break it down. Most quilts are just a few blocks done over and over again. So, do it One Block at a Time.

I enjoy a nice long bike ride as much as I enjoy quilting. When you ride a bike, you don’t start out going 100 miles. You work up to that. You start with a mile or two and before you know it you have gone 10 miles and love it. I look at quilting in the same way. You just do One Block and then you move on to the next block.

I Provide The Glue

Next, I know how much time and money that goes into each quilt. I don’t believe that my work as the long arm quilter should out shine the quilt. I like to think of long arm quilting as the glue that holds your hard work and love together.

If the Quilt does not have a theme, like hearts, or stars, or a big old teddy bear, when I do a consultation, I like to learn about the person the quilt will end up with. I find out what they like. If they like to be in the garden, we may look at flower pattern.

I have a lot a patterns to choose from. If I don’t have just the right pattern, I will do whatever I can to find that perfect pattern.

You Can’t Quilt Without Fabric

What can I say about fabric? Well, you will have a hard time making a quilt without it.  I have fallen in love with Riley Blake Fabric. Whether you go with pre-cuts or buy it by the yard, you need a good quality fabric. You want your hard work to last more than a few years of washing. So, make the investment at the beginning. Buy a quality fabric.

Quilt Your Own Way

Last, there is more than one way to do things. There are a lot of types of quilting.  Find what works best for you.  As you quilt more, you will find your own way.

It is ok if you don’t do things the same as your quilting friends. Do what makes you happy.  Take it One Block at a time.

Finally don’t forget the M&M’s and to breathe.
